Version 11 Notes

Version 11.1.0 fixes a problem with using USB printers under Windows XP where printing didn’t finish until 30 seconds after a page finished and would sometimes keep the program locked while it waited. To use a USB printer, you need to have a network interface set up and run a command like “NET USE LPT1: \\LostTarget\HPLJ1320 /PERSISTENT:YES”. You will need to change that command to match your system and printer name but it does allow you to use a USB printer with the program. I have found that the Brother HL-2070N printer works very well with the skeet program. It has a network interface, a parallel interface and a USB interface and you can get it on sale for $99.00 at Staples or Office Depot. Something to be aware of with Laserjets is that now some of the new HP “Laserjets” do not support the PCL programming language which is required for the skeet program to print score sheets etc. If you need to replace your printer, please make sure it supports PCL4, 5, or 6.

Version 11.0.7a lets you specify a different directory to put the DATE.RPT files in. The directory must exist or you will get an error. I wouldn’t normally use this but it gives some flexibility for special cases.

Version 11.0.7 adds functionality to printing to files. Inside several of what seemed to be single reports, the program actually ran multiple reports. If you wanted to print to a file via the printer setup method, the program would overwrite all but the last of these. The program has been modified so that if you enter DATE.RPT as the file name in the printer redirection command, the program will create a file named as MMDDHHMM.RPT (Month, Day, Hour, Minute) in the default directory. If another report is printed during the same date and time, it will be added to the existing file. If the date or time has changed, a new file will be created reflecting the new date and time. Hopefully this will provide the flexibility so all reports can be made available for further processing.

Version 11.0.6 adds some support for Windows programs by releasing the program back to the system while waiting for keyboard input. This should free up the CPU to run other things at the same time and may help some printing speed problems. Tested on Win98SE, XP and DOS and works ok. Also fixed some of the reports that didn't take mouse input/escapes from certain sections of some reports. Fixed a problem with shootoff sheets overwriting themselves.

Version 11.0.5 fixes a bug where after you set up the prelim or doubles squading for the first time, the option to print them didn't show on the screen.

Version 11.0.4 modifies the program to add the new Class I, II and III concurrent codes for All American reporting. In order to get Class reporting, you must set up the Concurrent Classes to have at least 2 classes, otherwise, you will only get champ, runnerup and third, depending upon how many concurrent places you want. If you want the Champ and only Class I, you can fake out the system by setting the split between Class I and II to be an average of 22 or some very low number. Remember that if you have Classes set up, the money will be paid to Class only, Champ/RU/3RD will be for honors only. If you end up with a single class, it should not matter but if you have more than one class, you will end up with Ch/RU/3rd, Class I, Class II and (maybe) Class III honors places plus Class I, Class II and (maybe) Class III money places. Thus you might have extra shootoffs to handle since the Ch/RU/3rd will move down into their money classes. It is also possible to set up the concurrent events to be honors with optional money purses which will further complicate the scoring. If there are no ties, the system will handle it correctly, but if there are ties, MAKE SURE you resolve the correct ties both in the shootoffs and when you enter the resolved ties. It's a pain but it's the only way to get the AA points correct.

Version 11.0.3 fixes a bug in the shootoff sheets when printing teams( I forgot to do the team section.) It also fixes a problem with reporting some of the special teams which only have classes but no champ, runner up etc. Also, if you use a special event and need to enter a code for reporting to NSSA, use the old code. I use the old codes internally and translate to the new when I create the NSSA report. If you don't have the old codes, I can get them to you.

Version 11.0.2 adds the ability to print shootoff sheets when you use a laserjet printer. It is item 6 on the Calculate Places Menu. It currently prints one event per sheet but allows up to 24 shooters per sheet. I may modify this in the future for more flexibility. It also added the ability to print out blank squad sheets for regular events, doubles and shootoffs. This is item C on the squadding menu. It also changed the sort order for display ties and print shootoff sheets so champ now comes out first followed by AAA etc.

Version 11.0.1 fixes a problem with sometimes misnaming the file to be sent to NSSA. It would name it CBxxxxxx.PRN instead of .TXT. The data was correct but the file name had the wrong extention. I also modified the laser label printing routines to better center them on the 2160 labels. As an aside, label 2160 should correspond to 5160/8160 and 2161 to 5161/8161.

Version 11.0.0 was created by the need to submit reports to NSSA in a new file format. Odds and ends of little things were also fixed but the main thrust of creating V11 was to address the file format change. In order to use the new format, you will need to enter on the shoot screen the shoot number for the shoot and the club number. These should have been provided to you by the NSSA. The old format file name was fixed at NSSA_RPT.TXT. The new report file name will be of the form CBxxxxxx.TXT where the xxxxxx is the shoot number given you by NSSA. This means that when you send it to NSSA, you will need to know the number for the shoot you are reporting. I have modified the program to copy a file of the form CBxxxxxx.TXT to the floppy from the NSSA reports program menu.
